작가노트

자연을 대하는 모습을 통해 그 시대를 엿 볼 수 있다. 
오랜 세월동안 자연은 인간의 삶을 터전인 동시에 극복해야할 대상 혹은 닮아야 하는 이상적 세계로 존재하였다. 특히 동양에서 산수라고 불리는 자연은 단순한 풍경을 넘어 이상적 상태, 신성하고 경이로운 세계로 인식된다. 그렇다면 ‘지금 살고 있는 사람들이 바라보는 자연 또한 그러한 모습인가?’ 본인의 작업은 자연에 대한 현대인의 인식과 동양사상에서 나타난 이상향을 현대적 관점에서 풀고자 하는 시도에서 비롯된다.
자연은 여전히 우리에게 많은 것을 제공한다. 인간이 살아갈 자원을 주고 아름다운 풍경을 주고 산에 오르면서 건강을 준다. 하지만 현대인이 인식하는 자연은 예전과 다른 모습으로 변하였다. 과학이 발달하여 인간이 자연의 많은 부분을 통제 가능하면서 자연은 더 이상 신성하고 경이로운 존재가 아닌 인간이 이용 가능한 사물 그 자체로 존재하게 되었다. 마치 SNS에 올린 상품처럼 자연은 인간에게 물질적이고 유희적인 대상으로 남게 되었다. 그리고 인간이 꿈꾸는 이상향은 더 이상 자연을 벗 삼아 삶에 깨달음을 얻는 것이 아니다. 그 이상은 정신적으로도 물질적으로도 풍요로운 것이다. 
본인은 산수화를 현대인의 관점에서 고민한다. 현대인이 바라보는 자연에 대한 시선과 현대인이 생각하는 이상향에 대한 생각을 화면에 나타낸다. 그리하여 자연은 수집되고 편집되어 하나의 사물이 되고 산해진미와 하나된 자연은 물질적으로 풍요로운 이상향을 만들어낸다. 

You can get a glimpse of the era through the way you deal with nature.
For many years, nature has existed as a base for human life and an object to overcome or an ideal world to resemble. In particular, nature, called landscape in the East, is recognized as an ideal state, a sacred and marvelous world beyond simple landscapes. Then, 'Is that what nature looks like when people live now?' His work stems from an attempt to solve the perception of modern people about nature and the utopia that appeared in Eastern thought from a modern perspective.
Nature still provides us with many things. It gives humans resources to live, beautiful scenery, and health by climbing mountains. However, the nature perceived by modern people has changed to a different form from before. With the development of science, as humans can control much of nature, nature is no longer a sacred and marvelous being, but an object itself that can be used by humans. Like a product posted on SNS, nature has remained a material and playful object for humans. And the utopia that humans dream of is no longer an enlightenment in life by taking nature as a friend. The ideal is rich both mentally and materially.
I contemplate landscape painting from the perspective of modern people. The screen shows the modern people's view of nature and their thoughts on utopia. Thus, nature is collected and edited to become an object, and nature, which has become one with scattered beauty, creates a materially rich utopia.
